GEO-HEX INSTRUCTIONS
The world isn't flat, so why should your battlefield be? That's why you need Geo-Hex®. Turn your entire tabletop into a single hillside; run streams or waterfalls downhill to a river below; invade the beaches of a Pacific isle; fight with Napoleon in the Alps; challenge a Dragon in its lair; set up an ambush on a faraway planet! All this and much more can be done with the seven unique shapes in your Geo-Hex system.
SET CONTENTS
Your system should contain the pieces indicated on the label on the end of the box.
GETTING STARTED
Before you begin laying out terrain, acquaint yourself with our seven patented shapes shown below. The number below each shape in the diagram is its name:
Also study the following illustration on the installation of cornerlocks.
While you will not need to use cornerlocks on every corner, it is important to install them properly to prevent possible damage to your terrain. Some of the slits may be stuck closed with a little dried paint, use a butter knife to open them up before attempting to insert the cornerlocks.
SETTING UP
The first step to setting up your Geo-Hex® system is to lay out all the pieces in your set and organize them by type. If you are using one of our WorldPac™ sets for the first time, carefully cut apart the stream and forest cloth items included in your system and set them aside for now, unfold the game mat include in your WorldPac set and lay it out to flatten. Sketch a rough map on paper that you would like to build on your tabletop and using the ideas and concepts in the following paragraphs begin to assemble your terrain.
MAKING STREAMS
Stream and gully features are made by opposing two or more shapes in the space of a hexagon. For example: place a #2 shape opposite a #4 shape, then put a #5 shape opposite a #1, and finally a #3 opposite a #3. These are the three basic stream segments available, but many more are possible by substituting smaller pieces for a larger one. Try replacing one of the #3 pieces with a #1 and a #2. You have just created a place where one stream joins another! You can use the stream shapes from the WorldPac™ set to line the bottom of your gullies or to make a stream run across the mat.
Did you notice that the sum of the parts in each stream segment above always equaled six? If you remember this simple rule you will never experience difficulty during setup.
MAKING HILLS
Take three #1's and a cornerlock and assemble them into the hill shape illustrated below: This is the smallest hill you can make.
Now assemble two #2's and two #1's into a hill; now add two #3's to that hill. The size and complexity of the hills you can make are limited only by the pieces you have on hand.
The #6 can be a draw or gully end, or the place where a stream emerges from underground or the side of a hill. The #7 can be a long ridge or a hilltop or join two hills together, but also try using it as an oxbow in a stream.
Study the map below and try reproducing portions of it with the pieces in your set.
Notice how the smaller pieces can stack directly onto a larger piece while still making a continuous slope. The ability to stack sloped pieces up to three high in the space of a single hexagon is just one of the many design features that give your set its great flexibility. Whether you're using sloped, rough or mountain shapes to make your layout, the same rules apply, and the same flexibility is built into every set.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Geo-Hex® makes no guarantees, either express or implied concerning the life of this product or its surface finish. Care in handling, transporting and storing your set are the best ways to ensure long life. Retain the box and all cardboard pads used to pack your set for shipping, as these are designed to provide the storage for your set.
Geo-Hex® terrain is made from rigid, modified, expanded polystyrene foam and must be kept away from fire, high heat and all petroleum products as these can cause damage. To repair or customize your system, we recommend the use of only white glues and water based acrylic paints.
